In this week's episode of Bar Rescue, Jon Taffer and crew are in Loveland, Colorado to rescue Blue Sports Grill. Duane Farnum bought the bar in 2018 using his retirement savings with hopes his son would eventually take over. The bar is suffering from an identity crisis and is causing issues with Duane's marriage with Sarah. The bar is losing $4,000 a month and Duane and Sarah are supposedly $300,000 in debt. Blue Sports Grill is supposedly two months from closing, so they called in Jon Taffer to help save their bar and their marriage.
During the Bar Rescue makeover, Jon Taffer decided to change the name of Blue Sports Grill to Colorado Champions Sports Cafe and the bar has kept the name. Let's take a look at some information, reviews, and updates for Colorado Champions Sports Cafe since Bar Rescue came and made all of the changes to the bar (All reviews are post-Bar Rescue):
Positive Reviews:
- "Stopped in on a boring Friday night for a couple beers & its a nice small bar. I think it was on that show "bar rescue" & it used to be called "blue 32" then it was changed after that show. There was an ok amount of people inside & the bartender's were getting to everyone in a timely manner from what I could see.... Didn't order any chow but the menu looked like they had some good food on there, Ill come back here to find out if the food is any tasty but so far so good."
- "The burgers here are awesome! Service fast and friendly"
- "Stopped in for the first time since the name change and was pleasantly surprised with the service and food. Burgers and fries were plentiful and well cooked. Very flavorful!"
- "Great little place with good food! Single Quarters pool table. Good drinks!"
- "The staff is super friendly and its the best quality food you will find at a local sports cafe. The owner has done a great job of creating a fun and friendly atmosphere. You will make friends as soon as you darken the door for the first time. I love this place!"
- "I miss the old name, but the burgers are still phenomenal!"
- "Nice little sports bar and grill with friendly service. Seemed to be a really local crowd, inside seating and booths with bar and outside seating as well....Good food menu, easy to park."
Negative Reviews:
- "I've had Fish and Chips many times in many places, including where it originated - the UK. It's pretty hard to screw up. But it seems that Bar Rescue has managed to accomplish that here, by adding smooshed green peas on top of both the fish and the chips. WTH? Bad idea! Bar Rescue has done for Colorado Champions Sports Cafe (nee Blue Grill) what Restaurant Impossible did for Casa Real - come in and screw up the menu.....I love sports bars, but - unfortunately - I don't see coming back to this one"
- "We saw this place was rebranded post-TV show project and wished to try it out after hearing some buzz online. Now Colorado Champions Sports Cafe, although it isn't a cafe nor really a sports bar? It has a clear identity crisis. They have nice decor inside, sports themed, and numerous TVs playing sports programming, but the music being blasted was mostly 90s country tunes at a loud enough volume that made average conversations difficult. Couldn't actually hear a single TV. Keep in mind we went on a weekday at about 4PM. The crowd appears to be regulars that congregate around the bar area.....Food was mediocre, prices too much for what you get, and atmosphere really wasn't inviting if you aren't a local at the bar area. I had high hopes, but would not return. The waitress was nice and courteous."
- "Okay sat there for over 5 minutes made contact with the bartender more than twice and was never greeted for a drink much less for my lunch order okay I will just get lunch somewhere else"
