Spike TV Airs Pit and Barrel Episode of Bar Rescue

As the owner Chris Michaels Ferrell of Pit and Barrel shot and killed musician Wayne Mills this weekend at Pit and Barrel, it was announced that the episode of Bar Rescue at the bar would not air.  According to Spike TV spokesperson Shana Tepper, the episode was pulled and a rerun would air in its place.

Well, someone dropped the ball on this one as the new episode at 10pm ET was pulled by Spike TV, however the encore Pit and Barrel (Music City Mess) episode still aired at 1am ET and 10pm PT.  Who knows if it will air in the future or if Spike TV will say anything about this.

Many fans are outraged and say they plan on never watching the show again after this, while others tuned in to see how the owner Chris would come across in the episode.

Here are some things to note from the episode.  See the picture above?  A Twitter follower (@HealthySpacesTN) had the screencap, and notice the sign in the background.  It is blown up to the right and says "Guns are welcome on premises."

Also, Chris came across as having a temper on this episode, and at the end of the episode, there was an update that said "Chris has not lost his temper with his staff."

As of now, the news out there is that Chris is claiming self defense, but obviously judging by the stated reason for the shooting (argument over smoking), that could change and bring charges.  I wonder if this episode of Bar Rescue will be used to help with any investigation or to be used as evidence?

11/25/2013 1:00pm.  Spike TV just released a statement apologizing that stated:
In our last minute effort over the weekend to pull the “Bar Rescue” episode featuring the Pit and Barrel, we regretfully did not remove a late-night telecast of the episode. We apologize to all those affected by the terrible tragedy over the weekend and to Jon Taffer, the production team, and our advertisers for our unfortunate human error.
